Charles Raymond Packer

Charles Raymond Packer (AKA: Packer Jr., Rainman, Charlie, Chuck) passed away suddenly on Saturday, July 3, 2010 at the age of 54 in Von Ormy, Texas.
Raymond was a long time Conductor on the DRGW, Helper, Utah.
He was preceded in death by his dad (Chuck/Grand Junction), mom (Carla/Salt Lake City), brother (Aaron), stepmom (Jenny/Grand Junction), and aunt (Jan Bess/Ferron).
He married in 1991, leaving the railroad and “transplanted” to Texas. Raymond still worked with/on the trains in the private sector.
He found his niche in 2003 being a Civilian Contractor for both KBR/Halliburton Afghanistan and PAE Africa before a disabling injury in 2008.
Raymond was a gentle, kind, protective, loving, giving, thoughtful, caring, big teddy bear soul. He is extremely missed and loved everyday.
Because of his wife’s failing health, Raymond’s cremains were laid to rest on Friday, November 17, 2017 at Ft. Sam National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas. This brought Raymond full circle being placed on his 62nd birthday and having done his Basic Training for the US Army also at Ft. Sam.
