Ballard golf tournament raises $18,000 for Ronald McDonald House

By Sun Advocate

At the August 17 Carbon County Commission session, county employees, represented by the 7th Annual Mike Ballard Memorial Golf Tournament committee, presented a check for over $18,000 to the Salt Lake City Ronald McDonald House Charities. The annual charity event is designed to assist an individual in severe financial crisis usually due to unforeseen catastrophic medical expenses, or a charitable organization that directly benefits the citizens of Carbon County.
The Ronald McDonald House provides low or no cost housing to families and individuals who need lodging while staying near loved ones receiving critical health care in the Salt Lake City area facilities or hospitals. During 2015, over 159 families (over 500 individuals) from the Southeastern Utah region received services from the Ronald McDonald House.
Committee members Linda Ballard, Frank Ori, and Rose Barnes presented the check to Events Manager Stephanie Stevens from the Ronald McDonald House. Stevens said the committee is the best organized she worked with throughout the state.
Donated funds come from outright cash donations, golf tournament entry fees, banquet and concert fees, and through the generous support of area business contributors. All activities are coordinated by the committee. Head Golf Pro Tom King from the sponsoring Carbon Country Club is instrumental in this successful event.
