Mark McDonald

Mark McDonald, 84, of Lander, Wyoming passed away on January 27, 2016, at the Help for Health Hospice, Riverton, Wyoming. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, February 1, 2016 at the Chapel at Hudson’s Funeral Home 680 Mount Hope Dr. Lander, Wyoming. Visitation will be held at 4-5 pm for family and 5-7 pm for friends Sunday, January 31, 2016, the Chapel at Hudson’s Funeral Home.
Mark McDonald was born April 11, 1931 to Jed McDonald and Hannah Grace Jenkins in Mutual, Carbon Co., Utah.
Mark attended school in Price, Utah. He proudly joined the U.S. Army serving in Co. A 804th Engineer Aviation Battalion as a grader operator, earning the Army Occupation Medal. Upon discharge he returned to Utah working in the coal mine in Dragerton, Utah. He married the love of his life Georgia Howard on February 27, 1953. Following the birth of Kathy, Mark went to work for the Atomic Energy Commission in Mercury NV as a security guard for the Atomic Bomb Tests. He returned to Utah working a variety of jobs until the family moved to Lander, WY in 1962 employed by US Steel until his retirement in 1983. Following retirement Mark went to work as a cowboy on Jerry Spence’s ranch on the East Fork out of Dubois. He also delivered vehicles for Fremont Motor Company.
Mark was a proud member of United Mine Workers Union, the V.F.W., American Legion, and the N.R.A. He served for years as a credit committee member with the Atlantic City Federal Credit Union.
Mark loved hunting, fishing, and the cowboy life using his horses in his pursuit of big game and fish in the Wind River and Absaroka Ranges.
He was an avid gardener, mostly as an excuse to be in the backyard sharing time over the fence with lifelong buddies Jerry Carr and Tom Quillen.
Most of all Mark loved his family and friends, teaching his many skills to any willing to learn. He will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jed and Hannah McDonald, brothers Brian, Elbert and Douglas.
Survivors include his beloved wife Georgia, his children; Kathryn Crump (Tom) of Sheridan, WY, Sheryle McOmie(Dan) of Lander, WY, and Mark Wm McDonald(Susan) of Green River, WY. His sister Shirley Mickey of Ogden, UT, brother Glen(Ann) of Cody, WY, 7 grandchildren, 11 greatgrandchildren and many nieces and nephews that loved him.
Marks’s casket was built and provided by his friend Bob Peterson.
