September 22, 1936-January 22, 2016
SALT LAKE/PRICE-Marilyn Joy Reese Baker passed away on January 22, 2016, in Salt Lake City, Utah, at the age of 79, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
“I was born on September 22, 1936, the middle child of William Perry Reese and Lenna McMullin Reese.
I spent my childhood in a coal mining town, Latuda, Utah. I graduated from Carbon High School in 1954, and worked for U.S. Steel Corporation in Dragerton, Utah, and Salt Lake City, Utah, for twenty-six years and for Geneva Steel Corporation in Orem, Utah, for seven years.
I married Norman Jay Baker on December 21, 1963-later divorced.
I have loved my family and always have felt “the love of a family is life’s greatest blessing.”
I am survived by my beautiful sister and best friend Sandra (Richard) Tatton, two wonderful step-daughters, Leigh (Dan) Johnson and Jodie (Richard) Haynes, three grandchildren: Marissa (Jason) Koenig, Matt (Sheena) Haynes, Zac (Chelsea) Haynes and four great-grandchildren, nephews: Steven (Joni) Reese and Nick (Danelle) Tatton, and niece, Ali (Vaughn) Cecil- and many great-nieces and nephews whom I love very much. Also survived by my dear companion, William H. Hummer. We enjoyed being together, taking fun trips and enjoyed a loving companionship for many years.
I was preceded in death by my parents, my brother, John William Reese, and grandson, Lucas Johnson.
I have lived a great life and have done most of the things I set out to do. I loved to travel and was always ready to go. Now I am on the greatest journey of all. “I will miss you all. Think of me in happy times with laughter.”
A Celebration of Marilyn’s Life will be held Saturday, February 6, 2016, 12:00 noon, at Mitchell Funeral Home, 233 East Main Street in Price.
