SALT LAKE CITY-Lupie Ann Benavidez Thornton, age 84, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2016.
Ann was born February 9, 1931 in Lumberton, New Mexico to Alfred and Elviria Benavidez.
She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church. Ann loved to go to the senior center to volunteer at various elementary schools teaching English to Spanish speaking students.
Survived by her children, Rick (Joan) Thornton, Jeff (Linda) Thornton, Lori Moore, and Stacy Thornton. She had 11 beautiful grandchildren and 11 wonderful great grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
Preceded in death by her loving husband, George R. Thornton; and her son, John P. Thornton.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 4, 2016, 2:00 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main Street) in Price. Family will receive friends at Mitchell’s Thursday one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Mt. View Cemetery in Helper, Utah.
