PRICE- Jack “Coach” Kobe, age 95, passed away October 19, 2015 in Price.
He was born February 20, 1920 in Kansas City, Kansas to George Kobe and Helene Zollikofer.
Jack was raised in the Strawberry Hill area of Kansas City. He grew up surrounded by a large extended family, good friends, and a loving faith community.
He met the love of his life, Blanche Rice, a nursing student at St. Mary’s College. They married in September of 1941and celebrated 67 years of life together.
Dad seldom met a person he couldn’t engage in conversation. Wherever he went his great joy was conversing with people and expanding his network of friends. A teacher since 1947 he had a passion for helping people grow into their best self.
He is survived by 5 children Kathy Kobe-Newton, Linda and Dan Kobe-Smith, Jack and Denise Kobe, David and Debby Kobe, and Maureen and Chuck Hopkins, as well as 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Memorial Mass, Saturday, October 31, 2015, 10:00 a.m., at Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church. Family will receive friends at the church one half hour prior to the Mass. A reception will immediately follow at the Notre Dame Hope Center. Committal service, Price City Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. led by Pastor Jesse Kobe. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price where friends are welcome to share memories of “Coach Kobe” online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
