Suspicious behavior leads to drug arrest

The Price Police Department has reported that on Friday at about 8:15 p.m. Officer Shawn Sackett spotted suspicious activity by three persons inside a vehicle parked in the south alley behind Main Street.
Investigation led to the arrest of one man for suspected drug offenses. A female adult will be referred to the Carbon County Attorney’s Office for requested charges. Another man was determined to be uninvolved during the time of this contact and was released.
Scott Joseph Strong, 28, of Price was arrested and booked into the Carbon County Jail on charges of Possession With Intent To Distribute Heroin, a second degree felony, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Class B Misdemeanor. Capt. Bill Barnes said it is likely that additional charges will be forthcoming upon review by the Carbon County Attorney’s Office for formal charges. Strong allegedly is a known drug dealer to area law enforcement agencies, and has been the subject of numerous citizen complaints.
Officer Sackett was assisted by Officer Cordova and Sgt. Maynes. Among the items seized were 19 used needles, 26 tablets of oxycodone, just over 14 grams of heroin, other paraphernalia and packaging materials, a digital scale, and $2,975.29 in cash.
Strong has 3 prior arrests, with one conviction for DUI – Metabolite.
Officer Sackett is requesting that the known but unidentified female be referred for charges of Possession of Heroin, a Class A Misdemeanor, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. It is possible additional charges will be forthcoming. The unidentified female has 13 prior arrests for charges including DUI, drug offenses, theft, and robbery.
