PRICE – Matthew J. Peczuh, age 66, passed away April 14, 2015 at home with family at his side after a valiant battle with health problems.
He was born Jan. 20, 1949 in Kenilworth to Mathew P. and Ann Perla Peczuh. Married Sharon Mortensen, July 24, 1971 in Lund, Nev.
Matt was a lifelong resident of Carbon County and a member of Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam and was a life member of the V.F.W. Miners Post # 2379 of Price. Matt was a tireless worker who retired from Energy West Mining Company with 32 years of service. He was a proud member of the United Mine Workers of America, Deer Creek Local # 1769.
Matt shared a deep love for the outdoors and was happiest while fishing, camping, elk hunting or riding 4-wheelers with family. He was a kind a generous individual who was always willing to help anyone in need. Matt loved working with his hands and anyone could see from in and around his home, that he was a true craftsman. He was an excellent woodworker who loved making keepsakes for his family. Matt was a true gentleman who valued the importance of friendship and family. Rest in peace Matt, you will be dearly missed by all.
Survived by his loving family: wife, Sharon Peczuh; sons, Blaine, Wayne (Crystal) Peczuh, daughter, Teresa Peczuh and Marty Beckman; six grandchildren, Brandon (Nicole) Olsen, Ryan Olsen, Tyler Peczuh, Shaylee (Shane) Burke, Zachary and Stefan Beckman; eight great-grandchildren, Haydon, Kanyon, Kaydence, McKade, Kinlee, Ryker, Zyker and Briella; many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and a community of friends and neighbors.
Preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Barbara (Joe) Penovich and Mary Peczuh Noyes.
Funeral Mass was Friday, April 17, 2015 at the Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church. Committal service, Cliffview Cemetery, Price. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home where friends are always welcome daily and may share memories of Matt online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net
