Dinos look to top rival in season finale

By Sun Advocate

With a trip to the 3A state playoffs out of the question, what exactly does the Carbon High Football team have left to play for?
The answer?
Everything.
In their final game of the season on Friday night, the Dinos will host rival Emery High in a battle of two teams in the 3A North division looking for their first win in division play.
Carbon will enter the contest on a six-game losing streak that dates back to Sept. 12. Carbon started the season 3-0 that was capped off by a 20-8 win over 1A powerhouse Duchesne on Sept. 4.
Emery will enter the game after going winless in their first eight games. In their previous game, Emery lost to Canyon View 55-7 on Wednesday, Oct. 15.
While both teams are struggling this season, Emery will carry the bragging rights advantage into the game after defeating Carbon in last year’s clash 51-13 in Castle Dale.
For the Dinos, a win would help the team carry a bit of momentum into next season with a program that is looking to improve across the board under CHS Head Coach Jan Jorgensen. A loss would give rival Emery another year of bragging rights among the local high school football crowd.
