CHS girls golf places 8th at State Tournament

By Sun Advocate

Strong season includes Region 12 Championship and multiple victories
The State Tournament is the culimination of everything a team works toward every year.
But while it’s a dream to play well and walk away as champions, it can be much more difficult to accomplish in reality.
The Carbon High School Lady Dinos Golf Team finished a great season with an 8th place finish, at the State Tournament held in South Jordan last week.
Desert Hills once again won the State Championship with a score of 322 points, Dixie finished 2nd at 316 and Park City 3rd with 310. Carbon finished in 8th place at 282. Hailey Kirkwood lead the team with 79 points and earned a spot on the All State Team. Katie Felice made 75, Taylor Hammack 65 and Braxton Gibson came in with 63.
“It was a great season. State didn’t work out quite like we had planned,” said CHS Head Coach Kenji Otani. “But Hailey made the the All-State Team and even though it was a struggle not one of my girls ever gave up the fight. All I can ask for as a coach is the best you have that day and these girls always gave me 100 percent. I am very proud of them.”
