Bad weather conditions can’t keep CHS girls golf from picking up region win

CHS girls set to host home match on Wednesday, April 2 at Carbon Country Club Golf Course
Cold and rainy weather may have stopped play but it didn’t dampen the Carbon High girls golf team in their quest for a win.
The Lady Dinos took the win by 11 points in a cold, rainy and shortened match in Juab on Wednesday, March 26.
Due to the weather conditions the match was called after five holes.
Carbon walked away with an 11 point win led by Katie Felice with a team-high 21 points. Hailey Kirkwood and Taylor Hammack each made 18 and Braxton Gibson and Kaycee Gilson each added 17 points for a team total of 74. Richfield took second place with 63 points and Juab third with 42 points.
“My girls were very disappointed that they did not get to finish and I wasn’t very happy with the decision to call the match either,” said CHS Head Coach Kenji Otani. “It definitely shows how dedicated these girls are to the game. They make me very proud.”
The Lady Dinos are hoping the weather stays clear and provides sunny days through the week as they are preparing to host a Region 12 match on Wednesday, April 2 at the Carbon Country Club.
The match is scheduled to start at 11 a.m.
