CHS swimmers qualify for state meet next week

Nine Dino swimmers qualify with possibility of more teammates joining them at BYU
A handful of Carbon High swimmers will be perfecting their form in the pool as they prepare for the state swimming meet at BYU next weekend.
Both the Carbon High boys and girls swim teams finished second overall at the Region 12 Championship Meet held in Richfield on Jan. 30.
“There were a lot of good swims and we had nine swimmers qualify for state and six relays,” said CHS Swim Coach Kamra Davis.
Girls 200 medley relay and region champs consists of Addy Olson, Sadie Crompton, Veronica Ibanez, and Susannah Ohlwiler. Another relay team placed second at region but qualified on time was the girls 200 free relay consisting of Lauren Engar, Addy Olson, Sadie Crompton, and Brittney Willson. Also finishing second at region but qualifying on time was the girls 400 free relay team consisting of Lauren Engar, Veronica Ibanez, Susannah Ohlwiler, and Brittney Willson.
Sadie Crompton picked up a region championship and will be representing CHS at state in the 100 breaststroke. Veronica Ibanez took second place and qualified for state in both the 100 fly and 500 free. Brittney Willson took second and qualified for state in both the 50 and 100 free.
Lauren Engar took second and qualified for state in the 200 IM. Tavery Larsen qualified for state and placed second at region in the 100 back.
Davis said there is a possibility of more girls going to state if they are in the top 24 entered. Addy Olson has a chance in the 200 IM and the 100 breaststroke, and Lauren Engar in the 100 fly.
For the boys their 200 free relay won a region championship with the team consisting of Joseph Keller, Connor Holyoak, Kaden Earl, and Joel Garff. The team’s other two relays also qualified on time 200 medley will be Harry Torgerson, Garrett Marsing, Ryan Atwood, and Kaeden Earl, 400 free is Joseph Keller, Ryan Atwood, Kaden Earl, and Joel Garff.
Joseph Keller is going to state in both of his events, winning region champ in the 200 free and placing second in the 100 back. Joel Garff was a region champion in both his the 50 free and 100 free and is ranked in the top 10 in both events at state. Kaden Earl qualified for state and placed second at region in the 100 free. Garrett Marsing qualified for state and placed second at region in the 100 breaststroke.
The Carbon High swimmers will have until Feb. 14-15 to prepare before heading up to BYU for the state meet.
