CHS boys golf looking to rebound with home match

By Sun Advocate

Since getting out to a quick start in region play, the Carbon High boys golf team has been caught in a bit of a rut.
The last two weeks the Carbon High Boys Golf Team have really struggled and have not played up to their potential, according to head coach Tom King.
Carbon traveled to Canyon Hills in Nephi the home match of Juab on Wednesday Aug. 28. They struggled there at the nine hole course by shooting a team total of 330, good enough for taking third behind Juab at (325) and Payson (326). The team was lead by Dillen Ward with a 76, Robbi Etzel (81), Blake Bean (84) and Dallas Anselmo (89). Also competing for the Dinos were freshmen Kayden Alderson and Wyatt Henrie.
The team then traveled to Skyline Mountain Resort in Fairview on Thursday, Sept. 5 the home of North Sanpete and their poor golf continued, King said. Carbon shot a team total of 334 which was good enough for second place behind Juab who shot 325.
The course must have played much tougher for all the players as most of the team scores were higher then the previous weeks,” said King.
Once again they were lead by Senior Dillen Ward with a 79 followed by Robbi Etzel (83), Blake Bean (84) and Dallas Anselmo (88).
The Dinos are now looking to rebound with their home match coming on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at Carbon Country Club. King said he feels that this team is a much better then the scores that they are shooting and he is expecting them to play well at home. The boys still have a 30 some shot lead over the second place team for the region title but have fallen back the last two weeks and that should not be happening.
“This is a much better team than this” King noted.
