Finding their rhythm, CHS boys golf team wins second match

By Sun Advocate

Carbon High boys golf head coach Tom King has pushed his high school golf team for this year and feels that his team is one that can shoot a team score around 310 every match. If they do that, they should win every match by a ways, King said.
In Richfield, the team did just that as they shot 310 as a team to take first place at a match last week.
“This team is very strong in the top four with all seniors,” said King.
This week they were lead by senior Robbi Etzel with a 75, followed by seniors Dillen Ward and Blake Bean with 76 and senor Dallas Anselmo with an 83 for a team total of 310. The last two playing on the varsity squad were two freshman Kayden Alderson who shot 93 and Wyatt Henrie with a 100. There were four JV players who also went who were Waylon Davis, Kreed Keele, Kasey Moynier and Stephen Butkovich as they were able to play and get some tournament experience.
Carbon ended winning its second region match and extended their lead over the other schools for a region title. Carbon took first with 310 followed by Juab (332), Payson (341), Richfield (360) and North Sanpete (396). The win gives Carbon a 50 shot lead over Payson heading into the next match in Juab this Wednesday.
King said the shot of the day in Richfield came from Blake Bean who holed out his second shot for an eagle two on his first hole of the day.
Carbon won their first match of the season at Mountain Dell on Aug. 13 as they ended up winning the match with a 321 team total.
