Losing streak continues for Dino football

By Sun Advocate

There comes a point when you can no longer put a positive slant on a losing season.
For Coach Leo Paur, that time was Friday night as he watched his team get pummeled by Richfield with the score of 34-0.
Carbon opened by recovering a fumble from Richfield.
They immediately gave it back on a pick, making it the game’s highlight and it came in the first possession.
By half time it was 34-0.
Coach Paur pulled all of his starters and put in his second string players.
Richfield did the same and the second half game was a scoreless affair.
The performance of his team on the field left Paur scratching his head.
“We had a good week of practices. Our kids were up beat and positive. Richfield was a team we could have beat, they are struggling. I wish I could say something positive about the game, but I can’t. There will be a big mix up next week. I am going to play the kids that want to play, we sure can’t do any worse.”
The Dino sophomore team lost their first game of the season with a double overtime 20-14 loss to the Richfield JV.
Paur remarked that Richfield really wanted that win and threw in their top juniors to play against the Carbon sophomores and freshmen.
Carbon now has to face one of the top teams in 3A this week.
They head to Park City for a region match-up with the Miners on Friday with kick-off at 7 p.m.
