Primary Care Network continues registration for adults with children

The Primary Care Network (PCN) discontinued taking enrollment for adults without children on Oct. 31.
However the program will continue accepting applications for adults with dependent children on an open enrollment basis until further notice.
PCN is a health plan offered by the Utah Department of Health and covers services administered by a primary care provider. The federal government requires PCN to enroll more parents than people without children. Because of this, PCN schedules separate enrollment times for parents and those without children.

Price shows large retail sales growth, places within top five for growth in Utah

The city of Price demonstrated a 16.4 percent increase in retail sales growth for the month of July, according to Bonneville research.
A July report given by the Utah research further qualified that their retail sales percentage increase put them in the top five in sales growth within the state. The city also ranks within the top 30 for total sales for Utah city’s.
Bonneville research is a Utah based consulting firm that also provides economic, financial and market information to the city of Price and other municipalities within the state and nation wide.

Health District gives accolades to Carbon retailers for no tobacco sales to local youth

The Southeastern Utah District Health Department is sending kudos to tobacco retailers.
According to the district, for the first time in 17 years all stores checked in Carbon County successfully passed the underage compliance checks.
For the first time no local store sold tobacco to youth under the age of 19, said Georgina Nowak of the SEUDHD.
According to the department, tobacco use remains the leading preventable cause of death and disease in the U.S., in Utah tobacco claims more than more than 1,100 lives annually and cost the state $530 million in various costs.
