Carbon golf experiences minor setback

By Sun Advocate

After going through several weeks of playing very solid golf, the Carbon High Golf Team had a minor setback during their match on Thursday at Gladstan Golf Course in Payson. The team finished in third place overall but only finished three shots out of first place. The team total of 352 was the highest score of the season for the team, Juan Diego with a 349 and North Sanpete with a 350 finished ahead of the Dinos. In spite of the high scores for the Dinos, the team remains in first place overall by 92 shots over second place Juan Diego. The individual scores were Jason Child with an 84, Dylan Olson had an 87, Shayne Burke followed with an 88 and three players, Ryan Nelson, Corbin Black, and Justin Child all tied with 93’s. Coach Pinedo said, “It was just one of those days that happen. Maybe it’s what we needed to wake up.” The team hopes to rebound when they conclude region play on Thursday at Millsite Golf Course, the home course for Emery. The team has already qualified for the State Tournament to be held on October 3 and 4 at Soldier Hollow Golf Course in Midway.
