Brittany Gustas come on in relief during the first game of the double header.

Opening their region play, the Lady Dinos took on Juan Diego in a double header. With a cold wind whipping the field, the Carbon players went cold too as their hitting and fielding was absent. Juan Diego beat up 17-0 and 10-0 on the Dinos to put the Dinos 0-2 in region eight play.
Carbon held Juan Diego scoreless in the first inning of the opening game, but that was when the wheels came off. Six errors and 11 runs later, Carbon finally got out of a disastrous second inning. The Dinos hit the ball hard but mostly right to the Juan Diego players.
Juan Diego put six more across in the fourth to put the icing on the cake. Carbon committed 13 errors in the game. Coach Pinedo was frustrated with the defense and commented after the second inning, “When you commit six errors, you deserve to be losing.”
Unable to really regroup, the Dinos headed back on the field to start game two. Right away they gave up five runs to get back into a hole. They gave up three more in the fourth and then 2 in the 6th. Despite the second loss, the Carbon play was better. They only committed five errors and punched out five hits in the losing cause.
With Emery coming to town on Thursday, the Dinos are looking for some of the magic they saw against Park City. Game time for the Emery game is 3:30 p.m. at the Carbon High softball field.
