Jenny Fiso fits a pass into the post. She returned to the line-up Friday. |
Even the return of point guard Jenny Fiso to the line up didn’t help the Lady Eagles overcome a good SLCC team this weekend. The Eagles dropped both games to SLCC by the scores of 79-40 and 75-60. Lucky for them Snow didn’t have any better success this weekend and the Eagles remain tied with them for fourth place in the SWAC.
CEU’s offense started out cold on Friday night and just got colder. Not one CEU player was in double figures on the night. Mallory Holm came off the bench and made eight. On the flip side SLCC had five players reach double figures. The Eagles shot a paltry 291 from the field and were under 500 from the line.
Determined to have a better game; the Eagles came out hot in the first period Saturday night. They were ahead for most of the first half, but SLCC began chipping away at the lead and were up by five at the break.
CEU stayed in the game until late in the second half when SLCC put it away for good. Still shooting only .339 on the night, it was an improvement over the previous game. Holm and Elisha Harris had 11 points on the night and Fiso added 10. Staci Little blocked three shots and pulled in five rebounds.
The team gets a shot at Snow this weekend as the team from Ephraim rolls into town. A pair of wins would give the team a much needed lift before taking on the teams from Idaho in the final weeks of the regular season.
The team plays a pair at home this weekend beginning at 5:30 p.m. each night.
