Brandon Wilson rejects a shot in a previous game against the Dixie Flyers. Wilson had 19 against Union on Dec. 29 to lead all scorers.

Trying to turn their season around, the Carbon boys headed to Union on December 29 to play.
In one of the closest games of their season, the Dinos fell short by a bucket in the final seconds of play to lose 56-58.
Tied at the end of the first, the Dinos kept pace with Union through the half. Each team took 25 points with them to the locker room. At the end of the third Carbon was trailing by one in a seesaw affair.
With the lead, the Dinos let Union make a bucket to regain control in the final minutes of play.
The two point loss was heartbreaking for the team, but boys basketball coach Ted Bianco felt like it had been a good effort by his struggling team.
“We played much better last night, but we just need to be able to finish it.” the Carbon High coach remarked in a post game interview.
Twenty one of the team’s 56 points came via the long ball.
Zac Jones and Brandon Wilson combined for 18 points from beyond the three point line. Dustin Pollastro added one of his own.
Several threes came at critical times down the stretch to keep the Dinos in the game. Wilson led all scorers with 19 points. Jones contributed 13.
The team travels to Uintah on Wednesday for one last non-region game.
Region play begins for the Dinos on Jan. 10 at Juan Diego.
Bianco and his squad are looking forward to region play and are ready for the teams they have to face.
The next home game for the Dinos is Jan.12 against Delta.
