Carbon senior Mckenzie Bentley and sophomore Britni Greenwood set up for a block against Union at a home game last week.

After a good match with Union last Tuesday, Carbon was ready to sharpen its skills in another tournament. The Dinos beat Union at home in four games to take a win, putting them in second place in region 8 standings.
Carbon took the first game against Union, 25-18. Union came back to tie up the match with a close 24-26 win. The third game of the match was a marathon affair with Carbon finally claiming the victory with a 31-29 edge. The final game was a mirror image of the first with the final score 25-18, Carbon.
The team traveled to Lehi on Friday and Saturday to play in a tournament. Eight teams competed over the two days. Carbon placed second in the tournament. Lehi took first.
Coach Bean was pleased with the performance of his squad.
“They played with consistency and showed good improvement over the first tournament we played in,” he reported.
He felt the girls gave it their all and are really shaping up into the team he was expecting them to be at the beginning of the season.
The team played Uintah on Tuesday and walked away with another victory. The match was similar to the week before when they played Union. Carbon easily beat Uintah, 25-12 in the first game, but let the Utes back into the match with a 22-25 loss in the second. Carbon regrouped and took the third game 25-20. Uintah was not about to quit and pushed the Dinos in the fourth game. Carbon came out on top with a 26-24 victory to claim the match in four.
Park City will come to Carbon High on Aug. 31 to take on the Dinos.
