Sam Tallerico Jr.
PRICE – Sam Tallerico Jr. age 88, passed away April 13, 2006 at Castle Country Care Center in Price.
Sam was born March 12, 1918 in Sunnyside to Sam Tallerico Sr. and Maria Antonia Lamanna, the fourth of 12 children. Married Katarina Mangone Jan. 27, 1946 in McCloud, Calif.
Member of Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church. Honorary life member of Price Elks Lodge 1550 where he served as Tiler.
Sam honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of VFW Miners Post 2379.
He was a lifelong resident of Carbon County and a dedicated employee of the Carbon County Railway prior to his retirement.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, drinking coffee and playing cards. Sam’s life was his family and he cherished every memory that he shared with family, friends and especially those with his grandchildren.
Survived by wife of 60 years, Kaye Tallerico; daughters, Teresina (George) Snyder, Toni Fugate, all of Price; son, Sam Tallerico III, Scottsdale, Ariz.; grandchildren, Shelly (Jimmy) Stricker, Herriman; Tawnie (Mike) Crowe, Price; Tina (Simon Ortiz) Tallerico, Tricia (Sonny) Martinez, both of Salt Lake City; Sammie Fugate, Price; great-grandchildren, Ashley and Mikey Crowe, both of Price; Ashton Stricker, Herriman; and Kayden Martinez, Salt Lake City. Preceded in death by parents; granddaughter, Jody Kaye Snyder; and son-in-law, Vance T. Fugate.
Funeral Mass Tuesday, April 18, 10 a.m., Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church. Vigil service Tuesday morning, 9 a.m. at the church. Viewing was at Mitchell Funeral Home Monday. Committal service, Price City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Notre Dame Building Fund, 160 North Carbon Ave., Price, UT 84501.
Sally Arriola
WELLINGTON – Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Sally Arriola, age 82, passed April 14, 2006 while surrounded by her family.
She was born Feb. 18, 1924 in Eagle Pass, Texas to Regino M. and Nicholasa Martinez Sanchez. Married Joseph J. Arriola Aug. 8, 1941 in Gallup, N.M.; he died Sept 2, 1996.
Sally was a devoted member of the Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church and a member of the Benedictine OSB oblates for eight years.
Mom walked in the shadows never in the forefront. She was the rock and soul of her family and she had the patience of a saint. In the last few years her health was failing, yet she still made time for her family. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy.
She is survived by five sons and four daughters, John R. (Tam) Arriola, West Valley City; Barbara Adams, Salt Lake City; Sally (Scott) Dixon, West Valley City; Mike (Debbie) Arriola, Taylorsville; Dorothy Uitvlugt, Kearns; Joe (Penny) Arriola, Wellington; Philip (Marilou) Arriola, Monroe; Yolanda (Sim) Bunderson, Wellington; Chris (Dee Ann) Arriola, Salt Lake City; sister, Teresa Montoya; brother, Howard (Nori) Sanchez; both of Albuquerque, N.M.; 28 grandchildren, 25 and one-half great-grandchildren; and numerous loving nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by husband, Joseph; brothers, Regino and Mike Sanchez; grandchildren, Tony and Gary Arriola; and one great-grandchild.
Sally’s family would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors and staff at Castleview and LDS Hospitals, and to everyone at Rocky Mountain Hospice of Price.
Funeral Mass Wednesday, April 19, 10 a.m., at Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church. Vigil service Tuesday evening, 6 p.m., at the church in Price. Family will be a Notre Dame Church Tuesday and Wednesday one hour prior to services. Committal service, Price City Cemetery. Ruby Taylor
HELPER – Ruby Theora Seeley Taylor passed away April 5, 2006.
She was born March 18, 1906 in Castle Dale, the 11th child of Orange Seeley Jr. and Elizabeth Christine Petrine Anderson. She was the last living of 14 children. Married William Melvin Taylor May 13, 1926. Marriage solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple May 4, 1933. They had a love affair that will never end. Mel passed away Nov. 19, 1985.
Parents of four daughters, Arlene, Rayone, Rita Mae and Dixie Lea.
Mother served in many positions throughout her life in her LDS faith. She dearly loved Relief Society and was very proud of her 60 plus years commitment of the visiting teacher program, keeping a 100 percent record. Mother loved her flowers and yard and made the hillsides bloom. She was very proficient at handwork.
She is survived by daughters, Arlene (Lynn) Wilstead, Rayona (John) Anderson, Rita Mae (Merlin) Farish, Dixie (Jim) Richens; 25 grandchildren, 83 great-grandchildren, 39 great-great-grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren, 25 step-great-grandchildren, 13-step-great-great-grandchildren; two sister-in-laws, Thelma Smith of Oregon and LaVon Seeley of Spring Glen. She was preceded in death by husband, parents, seven sisters and six brothers.
Funeral service was Monday, April 10, 11 a.m., at Fausett Mortuary Chapel. Interment, Mountain View Cemetery, Helper.
The family would like to acknowledge the Woodland Park Care Center and Odyssey Hospice in Salt Lake City for their loving care.
Alexis Datzman
PRICE/PARK CITY – Alexis Christina Datzman passed away Monday, April 10, 2006, in Park City from complications and a long four-year battle with leukemia.
Lexie was born July 25, 1998 in Ogden to Basil and Susy Patterson Datzman.
Lexie had many disabilities, but always remained happy. She loved eating cheeseburgers; watching Elmo, Shrek, and Toy Story; and riding the bus and going to school with the children who were so kind to her.
Survivors include parents, Basil and Susy Datzman; sisters, Sydney and Katie of Park City; and grandparents, Norman and Gloria Patterson, Price. Preceded in death by grandparents, Basil and Wanda Datzman, Fowler, Ind.
The Datzman family would like to thank the doctors and staff of Primary Children’s Medical Center, whom were Lexie’s second family, and also the Make-A-Wish Foundation for their kindness and generosity.
Funeral services for Lexie were Saturday, April 15 in Park City. Interment, Park City Cemetery.

Larry Wheeler
PRICE – Lawrence “Larry” Wheeler passed away April 15, 2006 at the age 86.
Larry was born on April 27, 1919 to Russell and Elizabeth Wheeler in Sioux Falls, S.D. Married Jean Ann Semling, later divorced.
During World War II, Larry served in the Air Force and many years in the Air Force Reserves. He enjoyed telling stories of his travel and experience serving in the military and rarely missed his daily jog and afternoon beer.
Larry is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Denise Wheeler, Henderson, Nev.; and brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Claire Ann Wheeler, Seneca, S.D. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents; and brother, Ed Wheeler.
A special thanks to Brenda Standley and the Kulow family for their care, concern and assistance over the past years.
Funeral Mass will be conducted on Friday, April 21, 11 a.m. at Notre Dame Catholic Church, with a vigil service preceding that morning at 9:30 a.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home. Interment, Seneca, S.D.
Jennie C. Wright
PRICE/GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Jennie Wright, age 87, of Grand Junction, Colo., passed away April 15, 2006 at Mesa Manor Care Center.
She was born in Kenilworth on June 24, 1918 to John and Josephine Colzani.
She attended Notre Dame School in Price from 1936 to 1939. Jennie then attended Holy Cross Hospital School of Nursing in Salt Lake City.
Her first nursing job was in Coalville. That is where she met her husband, Elmer Wright. They later moved to Price where she worked at the Price Carbon County Hospital, retiring in 1980.
Jennie is survived by daughter, Gena Wright of Grand Junction, Colo.; son and daughter-in-law, Dee and Jeanne Wright of Johnston, Iowa; two grandchildren, Sean and Daniel Wright; sister, Teresa DeSimone of Albany, Ore.; and several nieces and nephews. Her husband, parents, sister and brother preceded her in death.
Graveside services will be at noon on Wednesday, April 19 at Price City Cemetery under the direction of Callahan-Edfast Mortuary.
