What does the spirit of Christmas mean to you? – Are you looking for a way to bring back that spirit in your life? In times past we used to have people singing Christmas Carols in the streets. It would be nice to again proclaim good will to man. The Golden Rule Mission is looking for volunteers to sing and play Christmas carols at the bell ringing posts. BLM Christmas Tree Permits – The Price Field office of the Bureau of Land Management, 125 S. 600 W. in Price will sell Christmas Tree permits for personal use November 21 through December 23 from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The office will not remain open late or on Saturdays. One permit per household allowed. No more than three permits may be purchased for different families at one time. No permits will be issued for commercial harvest. Areas open for cutting will be Cedar Mountain, Carbon Airport, Wood Hill, Fish Creek (Dugout), Mud Springs and Horse Canyon.
Sign-ups for Farm Bill Conservation Programs – USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) is accepting sign-ups for Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP), Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program (WHIP), and Agricultural Management Assistance Program (AMA) until December 31, 2005. Free Legal Clinic – Utah Legal Services, Inc. is having a free legal clinic at the Price Courthouse, 149 E. 100 S., every second and fourth Monday from 11 a.m, to 2 p.m. If you have general legal questions or are filing paperwork and have some questions, come get help. Food Handler’s Classes – There will be food handler’s classes for all persons working in restaurants, bars, nursing homes, school cafeterias, convenience stores or grocer deli’s. Classes will be taught in Price on December 29 at 9 a.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at Southeastern Utah District Health Department, located at 28 S. 100 E., Price. Second Chance Wildlife Rehabilitation – a non-profit group that helps injured and orphaned wildlife. Help is needed year-round for various projects. Volunteers Needed – Pro-Care (After School Program) is seeking volunteers to help out with daily activities and also substitute for regular VISTA workers when necessary. Alzheimer’s – Memory Loss – The Price area has been developing a C.A.R.E. Program with the Alzheimer’s Association. The program needs caregivers who could use a break from the constant chores of taking care of a family member with memory loss. The program also needs volunteers to help provide companion services while the caregiver gets a much needed break for 1-3 hours. Volunteers will be reimbursed for mileage. The C.A.R.E. program for the Alzheimer’s Association of Utah is in the Price R.S.V.P. office which is located in the Carbon County Senior Citizens building, 30 East 200 South in Price. CASA Volunteers Needed – Each year hundreds of children in Carbon and Emery counties become wards of the juvenile court system due to child abuse, neglect or abandonment. The child welfare system can only devote so much time and attention to each individual case and, consequently, to each individual child. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Volunteers are ordinary men and women who find it in their hearts and their schedules to help these abused and neglected children. Utah Family Center Lending Library – to help parents including topics such as infant through adult literacy, discipline, children & teens mental health, bullying and much more. CEU Library – Winter hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., Fridays 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Saturdays 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Sundays 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The library is closed on weekends during school breaks. Foster Grandparents – Volunteers of America-Utah needs grandparents to join the Foster Grandparent Program team. Foster Grandparents receive a modest non-taxable stipend of about $200 per month. Individuals who are at least 60 years old; love children; have a limited income, and extra time to share may qualify. FGP volunteers serve 20 hours per week in local schools, and receive a daily meal, a yearly physical, accident and liability insurance while on duty, and transportation to and from the school. Parenting for Teens – The Family Support and Children’s Justice Center in Price offers a free class dealing with the issues, problems and difficulties facing teen parents. Carbon County Animal Shelter – AVID chip pet identification is available at the shelter. Hours are Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Just bring in one can of food for each fine that is on your card. We will be doing this November 1 through January 9. All food collected goes to the local food bank. Santa Claus is coming to the Price City Library, December 13 from 5:00-7:30 p.m. Western Photo is taking the pictures this year. Photos are free and will be available at the Library.
Family Support & Children’s Justice Center – offers crisis care for families with children from infants to 11 years old. Crisis nursery is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Families may use the nursery for respite, family crisis, court, doctors appointments, medical emergencies, mental health appointments, escaping family violence, attending parenting classes/divorce classes and AA/Narcotic Anonymous meetings. Holiday Craft Fair – The College of Eastern Utah Staff Association is hosting their Holiday Craft Fair scholarship fundraising event December 2, 11:00 a.m.- 8:00 p.m. and December 3, 10:00 am -4:00 p.m. The fair will be featuring homemade crafts and goodies along with pottery hand made by CEU students.
