Local horse wins big

Strinking Diamonds, a two year old chestnut mare owned by E. J. Petitti of Price, captured second place in the $59,249 Four Corners Futurity at Sunray Park in Farmington, N.M. recently.
The mare, ridden by Tony Guymon and trained by Wesley Todd Giles covered the 350 yard race in a time of 17:470.
American Quarter Horse racing is conducted at nearly 100 racetracks throughout North America with total purses reaching over $93.5 million in 2004. Fans watch horses go speeds in excess of 50 m.p.h. Last year, fans wagered $325 million on nearly 8,800 American Quarter Horse races.
