Jessie Sorensen
FERRON-Jessie Lewis Sorensen, age 88, passed away on April 15, 2005, in Ferron. She will be reunited with Que Sorensen who passed away on April 4, 2005.
She was born July 2, 1916, in Emery, to John Samuel and Eva Matilda Abelin Lewis. She married Que Sorensen on Dec. 2, 1948. Married in the Manti Temple on June 29, 1953.
She is survived by a son, Keith (Donna), Ferron; daughters, Roma (Kell) Blackham, St. George; Jeannette (Ken) Hadean, Tooele; and Susanne (Fred) Babcock, Mesquite, Nev.; nine grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; brother, George Udell Lewis.
Jessie was buried at Memorial Estates Redwood, Salt Lake City.
Mary Pappas Lines
Mary Pappas Lines passed away Sunday morning, April 24, 2005, in Salt Lake City.
She was born in Price, Utah January 10, 1921, the seventh of nine children born to Greek immigrants Gus and Jenny Jouflas Pappas. She married William S. Lines November 11, 1945, and resided in Salt Lake City for the past 50 years.
Mary cherished education and returned to school in her forties to complete a B.A. in English and a master’s degree in social work at the University of Utah. She spent 22 years as a social worker and dedicated child advocate, tirelessly working to improve the lives of children throughout the state. She read everything, loved to walk, and spend time with her family and friends. She was proud, intelligent, determined and brave.
Mary loved and is survived by her three children, Bill, John, Mary Catherine Thiriot; and her husband, Paul, all of Salt Lake City. She was a proud and loving “yia yia” to her four grandchildren, Danielle Thiriot of Cambridge, Massachusetts; Nick Thiriot, Damon and Alexander Lines, all of Salt Lake City. She cared deeply for her 16 nieces and nephews and their families. To her friends, she was loyal and true. Mary was preceded in death by her parents and eight siblings; her godson, Ryan Bikakis; and her former husband, Bill.
Her children thank all the compassionate caregivers who assisted our mother over the past few years as she battled Parkinson’s disease.
May her memory be eternal.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 27, noon at Prophet Elias Greek Orthodox Church, 5335 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City. Mary will be laid to rest at approximately 4 p.m. that afternoon at the Price Cemetery. Funeral arrangements, Cottonwood Mortuary, Salt Lake City.

Cleo Sorensen
Cleo Sorensen went to her eternal rest in the year of our Lord, Jesus Christ, on April 20, 2005. She was born Dec. 8, 1916, at Mohrland, Utah.
She was born to Grace Cornelia Cox (Christensen) and Peter Berner “Bert” Christensen. She was the first and oldest of seven children born to this couple. Three of the seven children are alive today: Zola Smith of Orem; Mahalia Sapp of St. George; and Darlene Robinson of San Jose, Calif.
Doyle Sorensen, Cleo’s husband of 63 years, was sealed in the Manti LDS Temple on June 26, 1942. From this sealing, or marriage for time and all eternity, were produced six children. Four currently live today. They are Kathy Johnson of Kingsburg, Calif.; James Sorensen of Selma, Calif.; Scott Sorensen of Kingsburg, Calif.; and Jan Torgensen of Visalia, Calif. Cleo also leaves behind five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints her entire life. In her younger years, Cleo graduated from Carbon County High School in 1935, from the LDS Seminary in 1939, and from Carbon College in 1940, with an associate’s degree.
Cleo later attended the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA), majoring in nutrition. While living in southern California, Cleo met her husband Doyle, who was also working, living and attending college in southern California.
Cleo was a bookkeeper, secretary, wife, homemaker and active church member. On a regular basis she attended the Los Angeles LDS Temple the Oakland LDS Temple and the Fresno LDS Temple, when she was healthy.
Together, Cleo and Doyle raised a family of six healthy children and operated their own business for many years. They supported their children in whatever good wholesome enterprise it might be. They financed three of their children when the children served missions for the LDS church. They helped their children attend college when the children desired to do so.
Cleo (Christensen) Sorensen will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Cleo’s funeral service was Monday, April 25 in Selma, Calif. A viewing was held the previous afternoon. She was laid to rest at the Floral Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Selma.
JoAnn Douros
PRICE – JoAnn Olsen Douros, age 70, died peacefully April 13, 2005, in Price.
She was born Feb. 22, 1935, in Mohrland, to Virgus and Lucille Storey Olsen. Married Steve Douros Jan. 5, 1954, in Hiawatha; he died Jan. 9, 2005.
JoAnn was a remarkable Christian woman, whose faith was strong and unshakable. She was a member of the Price Chapel-Christian Missionary Alliance. In spite of many years of suffering with health problems, she was always more concerned with the health and well being of her family and friends. Although we will miss her deeply, we are grateful that she is at peace.
Survived by sons, Michael (Connie) Douros, John (Sue) Douros, both of Price; grandchildren, John Paul “JP”, Chris, Jenifer, Drew and Dustin. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Jerry; husband, Steve; and sons, Christopher and Brad Douros.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Gagon and the ICU Staff at Castleview Hospital for all their care.
Memorial service Thursday, April 21, 2 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s one hour prior to service. Interment, Price City Cemetery.
