Lifeguards Chase Norton and Rebecca Curtis demonstrate their skills on Amanda Curtis, who plays the part of the victim, in a monthly in-service training at the Price Desert Wave Pool last Friday. Cassie Christman, who oversees the training exercises, explained that the sessions help lifeguards stay up-to-date on their skills. The training sessions are especially beneficial during the winter, when fewer people swim. The Desert Wave Pool recently installed ozone filtrations systems to the indoor and outdoor pools. Adding the filters allows the staff to keep chlorine levels to a minimum. The system aerates the water with ozone, which kills certain types of bacteria. In the next step of the process, the gas is removed before the water is pumped through the rest of the filtration system.
