Area golfer takes Vernal Golf Classic F-flight
Carbon County resident Bob Peirce had a first place finish in the F-flight of the Dinoland Golf Classic in Vernal last weekend.
Peirce played his round from the yellow tees.
Dino fastpitch team takes second
The Dino 14 and under fastpitch team took second place in the Sr. Timp Classic Tournament on June 25 and 26. The team went undefeated the first day, then went on to beat Wasatch 11-9 and 6-5.
Their two losses in the tournament came against the Silver Stars from Riverton. Final scores were 0-4 and 5-7.
The Dinos were lead in pitching for the championship game by Leslee Lake of Castle Dale and Nicky Woodbury of Helper. The pair combined for 11 strikeouts.
Woodbury also ignited the Dinos from the plate, going 12 for 18. Meagan Pearson of Huntington also contributed seven hits during the tournament.
Other team members included Whitney Williams, Kayla Robinson, Julia Potts, Whitney Oliver, Kelsey Gillespie, McKenzie McCourt and Britni Greenwood.
The team will participate in the upcoming state ASA tournament in Pleasant Grove.
Home run king crowned
Sunnyside little league player Neto Pacheco broke the Sunnyside WBBA home run record, hitting 10 home runs in the 2004 season.
Pacheco was crowned as the home run king by the association for his achievements.
Hunters seeking buck deer permits have three options
Buck deer permits can be obtained from at least 107 hunting license agents in the state, the Division of Wildlife Resources’ Internet website (wildlife.utah.gov) or from the Price DWR office.
More than 10,100 statewide general archery, 5,500 Northeastern Region rifle and muzzleloader and 17,300 Northern Region rifle and muzzleloader permits will be available for purchase.
