Michael Flemett unloads cases of rolls at the Carbon County Food Bank on July 29.
Every month, the pantry conducts a truck drop which allows eligible Carbon County residents to pick up food at the facility in Price.
According to food bank coordinator Dondra Nance, the local facility is experiencing a low volume of donations.
Around the holidays, we receive an overwhelming amount of food from the community. During the summer, the donations tend to slow down even though we have the same volume of residents collecting food,’ explained the facility coordinator.
Because the local pantry is experiencing a supply shortage, a food drive is scheduled July 30 through Aug. 1.
Carbon County residents may donate canned non-perishable food items like fruits, vegetables and meats along with pasta, peanut butter or rice at Smith’s between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. as well as 4 p.m and 8 p.m. during the food drive.
A list of preferred items will also be available.
