HELPER – Our loving sister and dear aunt, Mary Thressa Eaquinta, age 93, passed away June 28, 2003 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born June 26, 1910 in Sunnyside to Giavonni and Saveria Gallo Eaquinto.
Member of the Catholic Church and American Legion of Helper. Mary was a longtime resident of Helper, where she worked at the La Salle Hotel and Restaurant, the family owned business which was built by her father in the early 1900s.
Mary loved and dedicated her life to her sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, and enjoyed taking care of them.
She was a very talented artist and an excellent cook. Her homemade cakes and cookies were out of this world and she won first prize for her famous chocolate cake.
Mary loved her rose garden on the side of the La Salle on Helper Main Street. As an excellent seamstress, she made many afghans and quilts for her family and friends.
Survived by her sister, Carinda Eaquinta, Helper; and many loving nieces, nephews and sisters-in-law, who will miss her dearly. Preceded in death by parents; baby sister; brothers, Sam, Joe, Louie, Frank and Carl; sisters, Rose Eaquinta Spatafore and Katherine Marie Eaquinta.
Funeral Mass Wednesday, July 2, 10 a.m., St. Anthony Catholic Church. Vigil service Tuesday evening, 7 p.m., at the church in Helper. Family will be at the church Tuesday and Wednesday one hour prior to services. Committal service, Price City Cemetery, under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home.


Elsie Cooper


WELLINGTON – Elsie Ellen Cooper, age 90, passed away June 28, 2003 in Wellington.
She was born July 18, 1912 in Pueblo, Colo., to Walter J. and Lacresha Goings Snook. Married Francis Monroe Cooper, 1930, in Howard, Colo. He died in September 1968.
Mom was a wonderful mother who dearly loved all of her children.
She was a hard worker and always put her heart into everything she did.
While living in Coaldale, Colo., she owned and operated a store for several years.
Her favorite pastime was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who always brightened her life.
Elsie was very independent and she enjoyed reading, painting, playing cards and adding to her extensive cow collection.
Survived by five sons and two daughters, Walter M. (Doris) Cooper; Joe E. Cooper, both of Canon City, Colo.; Phyllis J. (John) Pell, Wellington; Irvin L. Cooper, Canon City, Colo.; Peggy E. Lyons, Price; Johnny S. Cooper, Canon City, Colo.; Arnold D. (Cheryl) Cooper, Wellington; brother, Bob Snook; sister, Dorothy Vaclar, both of Pueblo, Colo.; 34 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by son, Edward Cooper; brothers, Earl and Roy Snook; and a sister, Leida Snook.
Graveside services will be conducted at a later date in Cotopaxi, Colo., under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home.
