Kellen Spillman competes against a Lehi opponent during last Tuesday’s set.

Tennis is often considered a spring sport. In fact, as soon as the first sign of spring appeared, the Carbon Dinos took to the court in order to prepare for season action.
The competition got underway for the Dinos a few weeks ago when the team traveled to Uintah High to participate in their first set of the season.
Carbon played strong in both the singles and doubles match ups. In fact, the team was impossible to beat as they easily defeated Uintah, 4-1.
After opening the season strong with a victory, the Dinos moved on to compete against Region 8 opponent, the Delta Rabbits.
Once again, the Dinos were on fire as they defeated the Rabbits, 5-0.
After kicking off the year with a strong start, the Carbon team returned to Price to host their first set of the season. The showdown would pit the Lehi Pioneers against the strong Dino team.
During the afternoon event, what could go wrong did for the Dinos. Try as they might, nothing seemed to click for Carbon.
By the end of the competition, the Dinos had lost for the first time this year by the final 5-0.
“We got worked,” commented Dino assistant coach, Matt King.
The team now looks toward brushing themselves off and returning strong as they hit the road and return to action against North Sanpete on Tuesday.
