GJ Macon pulls down a rebound during a home game this year. In his first year with the Eagles, Macon has become a reliable athlete who can play well from any location on the court.

The men’s basketball team from the College of Eastern Utah has competed in three games in the past two weeks. For the Eagle squad, the first two games proved to be successful while the final game was a bit of an upset for the talented CEU team.
The Eagles kicked off the three game series by hosting two back to back games at home. The first of which took place Jan. 17 as the Eagles hosted the Colorado Northwestern Spartans.
The Eagles jumped out ahead of the Spartans, 32-27 in the first half. As the second half rolled around, the game continued at an intense speed as the teams stayed quite even with one another.
By the time that the game was over, the Eagles had defeated the Spartans, 80-72.
First year Eagle, Anthony Grant lead the team in scoring as he finished the game with 28 points. Derrick Turner followed with 10 while PJ Stinnett and GJ Macon each scored nine points.
The following night, the Eagles hosted the North Idaho Cardinals. Once again, the Eagles competed in an intense and highly competitive game as the two teams battle for control of the score board.
The Eagles walked away with their second win in two days as they scored the 87-75 win over the Cardinals.
Turner once again was the high scorer for the Eagles as he scored 21 points. He also pulled down eight rebounds and blocked four shots.
Grant scored 18 points against the Cardinals as Stinnett and Mindaugas Katelynas each scored 13 points.
The Eagles then took a week off before hitting the hardwood floor in Salt Lake against the Community College Bruins.
Each team played well as the Bruins entered the half leading the Eagles, 38-36.
The second half of play was also close as the Eagles held on tight. It wasn’t enough however for the CEU squad who fell to the Bruins, 80-71.
Grant lead the Eagles in scoring as he completed the game with 17 points. He was followed by Macon who scored 15 points and Matt Thomas who finished with 12 points.
Rounding out the Eagles top scoring roster was Turner who finished with 11 big points.
The Golden Eagles currently stand at 4-4 for the season against Scenic West Athletic Conference teams.
The team looks to increase this standing this weekend as the team travels to Idaho to take on the Cardinals for the second time this year.
The Eagles will not return to their home court until Feb. 6 as they host Snow College.
