Responding to the increasing number of people wanting to assist law enforcement officials and build a stronger partnership in the fight against crime.
To participate in the statewide effort, Carbon County citizens are being encouraged to become honorary members of the Utah Sheriffs’ Association.
Membership appeals will be mailed shortly to people residing in the local area, announced Sheriff James Cordova.
Residents choosing to join the voluntary program can do so for a nominal donation, while businesses can show support by making larger financial contributions.
The funding provides critically important technical resources, training, and legislative support on key criminal justice issues, pointed out Cordova. Contributions are tax-deductible.
“With government funding becoming increasingly difficult to secure, the membership drive has taken on greater importance than ever before,” noted Cordova. “The funding is vital to helping us carry out our mission of making our communities safer places to live, work and play.”
Residents who do not receive a membership appeal or who desire additional information may contact the Utah Sheriffs’ Association at 1169 E. Mesa Vista Drive, Irvins, UT 84738.
Meanwhile, residents interested in becoming honorary members may sign up for the program by contacting the county sheriff’s office in Price.
The membership program was formed to provide citizens with an opportunity to lend support toward ensuring more effective law enforcement.
The program is designed to allow members of the general public a way to better assist local law enforcement officers with protecting the lives and the property of citizens.
“As the need for building stronger public-private law enforcement partnerships in the country continues to escalate, programs such as this continue to grown in importance,” explained Cordova.
“I encourage everyone receiving a membership appeal to consider joining forces with us by becoming an honorary member. It is a valuable investment in the future,” concluded the Carbon County sheriff.
