Redevelopment agency establishes new area to encourage growth

By Sun Advocate

The Price City Redevelopment Agency is in the midst of establishing a new redevelopment area to encourage economic growth and community improvement.
Local governments including Price City, Carbon County, Carbon County School District and Price River Water Improvement District have taken part in the planning for the area. The area that is being developed is in east Price, generally along Airport Road and east of Highway 55.
Goals developed for the area include improvement and placement of public infrastructure including utility lines, sidewalks, curb and gutter, addressing concerns about drainage and runoff problems, improvement of existing structures or removal of problem structures, and improved visual appearance through renovation and landscaping.
Price City Redevelopment Agency is in the process of holding public hearings regarding the plans and budgets for the area. The establishment of the area involves a number of procedures including the public hearings, mailings to property owners, development of plans and budgets as well as informing property owners of the method to involve the Redevelopment Agency in their own projects.
Property owners in the area are encouraged to participate in the development of the plans and goals as well as take part and initiate projects in the area that address the goals. Details to complete the establishment of the area should be completed by October 2002.
The Redevelopment Area is set to last for a period of 12 years at which time all goals are expected to be completed.
Anyone interested in discussing the area involved is invited to contact Price City at 637-5010.
