New radio programming

By Sun Advocate

Q101 has just unleashed the Ferdy Pacheko Show on the airwaves of Eastern Utah. The all rock music show plays Tuesday nights from 7 till 10 p.m. on 100.9 fm in Carbon County and 107.7 in Emery County.
Ferdy Pacheko who is known as the “Rocker in the Box” considers himself a “throwback” from the real rock days of the 70’s and 80’s when guitar solos were mandatory and every rocker’s hair was as long as his girlfriend’s. The Ferdy Pacheko Show’s line up reflects the eclectic style of it’s enigmatic host “The Doctor of Rock” with the Vintage Rock Hour at 7, followed by 80’s Rock Hour at 8 and Modem rock at 9.
Ferdy considers Eastern Utah as the natural place for music that rocks considering the rough and tumble nature of the area. Pacheko believes that, “Music is a reflection of a person’s style and way of life. Eastern Utah is full of rockers you can see it in the way we dress, the cars we drive and the way we live. A lot of people here live a true rocker lifestyle and so our radio show is a perfect fit.”
The Ferdy Pacheko Show debuted on April 3, 2002 and if requests are any indication of the listener ship there are hundreds of faithful listeners not only in Carbon County but from as far away as Blanding, tuning in every Tuesday to listen to their favorite “rock” songs.
Listeners have already started to push for more than just one night of rock. A spokesperson for Ferdy Pacheko says, “We are currently signing up sponsors and advertisers for the Tuesday night show and its just a matter of support, the more support we receive from listeners and sponsors the more nights we will be able to rock Utah’s Castle Country”.
