Recently namedAcademic All-State with a 4.0 G.P.A., and nominated by the Utah High School Activites Association her sophomore year to second team All-State, Elizabeth Dansie, a senior attending both CEU and East Carbon High School, has made a significant contribution to Lady Vikes basketball.
For the four years Dansie has been a part of the team, she has played the position of point guard, and in the last three years, was often one of the high scorers.
“Elizabeth is a great ball player. She has great skills, and does a good job of handling the ball and getting it to an open spot to score,” stated head coach Ryan Hepworth. “We’re not the same team when she’s not running the point gaurd position.”
Dansie has been participating in the sport since the age of seven. She began playing with friends, progressing to a junior Jazz team until the opportunity to play on the junior high team knocked.
Athough the regularseason is over, the team still has major goals in sight. Currently, the Lady Vikings are ranked second in Region 18, behind West Desert, but the coin toss sent them automatically to state, where it appears they will play Wayne.
“My motivation is the drive to want to win as a team, and work and practice hard,” commented Dansie.
Other extra cirricular activites that Dansie are involved in include FCCLA, Forensics Club, and track. Her favorite subjects are science and English.
“In English, you can express yourself in a different way, and science, it’s just interesting to see how things work,” she says.
Dansie wants to eventually attend Southern Utah University and become a psychologist.
