Price National beats Kearns American 10-1

By Sun Advocate

It’s a long ways from the barren hill surrounded northern ball complex in Price to the lush ball parks in Washington Terrace, but the Price National major league all stars, known as the Whites when they were playing here two weeks ago, weathered the trip well as they beat up the Kearns American team at the WBBA World Series pool play on Tuesday evening 10-1.
The pitchers for Price, Jordan Moynier and A.J. Mitcheson dominated the game allowing only one hit in the fourth inning . Otherwise they shut down a strong Kearns offense.
The first inning showed no score from either team as they had first game jitters and were adjusting to their new surroundings.
In the second inning J.J. Blue doubled and then Mitcheson hit a home run driving in Blue and making the score 2-0.
In the third inning, Price broke the game open with a number of hits. Bradey Wilde hit a single then so did Moynier. Blue then hit a single driving in Wilde. Then Mitcheson smacked another homer, bringing in three runs and burying the kids from the west side of the Salt Lake Valley.
After that blast the Kearns pitcher walked Marcus Zaccaria and Willy Hill hit a single bringing Zaccaria closer to home. Then Kearns committed an infield error on which Zaccaria scored.
In the fifth inning Blue nailed a single home run over the fence. Then Hill was walked and scored on a wild pitch by the Kearns hurler and then an error.
The only score Kearns got was in the fourth. After getting a hit the Kearns runner advanced on an error to home plate.
Moynier faced only 11 batters in his three innings on the mound and struck out seven of them.
Mitcheson, who easily more than made up for the one hit he gave up with his stupendous hitting, struck out five Kearns batters.
Pool play resumed on Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. as Price faced a strong pitching Washington Terrace club.
On Thursday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. the Price team will face the last of the pool play as they face the team from Ammon.
After pool play is completed on Thursday, the pairings of the teams with the best records from all three pools will be announced with play on Friday and the championship game on Saturday.
