Vivian Seitz
EAST CARBON CITY – Vivian Marie Darr Seitz, age 82, passed away June 16, 2003.
Born March 13, 1921 in Trenton, Mo., to George and Edith Criswell Darr. Married Robert (Bob) Louis Seitz, March 13, 1940, Moberly, Mo. He died Feb. 18, 1996.
Vivian worked for Miners Trading Post in Sunnyside. She enjoyed bowling and took an active part on the leagues at the Sunny Bowl for many years.
She was a gifted quilter and took pride in making quilts for each of her children and grandchildren.
During her illness, she missed being able to quilt with her friends at the United Methodist Church in Price.
Survived by three children, Richard (Shanna) Seitz, Salem; Betty (Steven) Moffitt, Fresno, Calif.; Helen Hennefer, Sunny-side; seven grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; three brothers and one sister, Lester, Culver City, Calif.; Buford, Clearfield; Frank, Laredo, Mo.; Hallie Rhodes, Brookfield, Mo.; many nieces and nephews, one special to Vivian is Mary (Nick) Martinez, East Carbon City; special friends, Angela Sanchez and Carole Atton.
The children would like to thank Rocky Mountain Hospice, Castle Country Care Center, Dr. Etzel, Dr. Craner, Dr. Biesinger for the care given to our mother and Pastor Nancy Boswell for her loving support during this time.
Funeral service Thursday, June 19, 11 a.m., United Methodist Church, Price. Family will be at Mitchell Funeral Home Wednesday evening, 6 to 8 p.m., and at the church Thursday one hour prior to services. Interment, Price City Cemetery.
Vivian Jewkes
PRICE-Vivian Grace Haycock Jewkes, age 79, passed away June 16, 2003 in Price.
She was born Feb. 17, 1924 in Spring Glen to William Brindley and Elizabeth Sellers Haycock. She married Bryant Terry Jewkes Jan. 11, 1950 in the Manti LDS Temple,
As an active member of the LDS Church, she served in numerous callings.
Her hands were never idle, always crocheting and making things for her family. She made the best bread in the world.
She loved dancing and playing with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving husband, Bryant of Price; children, Terry Roy and Terry Lynn Jewkes of Wellington, Vivian Kaye Jewkes of Salt Lake City, Brian and Carol Jewkes and Scott and Anne Lise Jewkes, all of Orangeville, and Cindy and Jim Cloward of Wellington; 24 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by daughter, Marilyn Jewkes. Vivian was the last of 11 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be Friday, June 20, at 11 a.m. at the Price 6th LDS Ward Chapel, located at 300 West and 500 South. Friends may call Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Price and one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Orangeville Cemetery.
Donald Cox
PRICE – On Sept. 8,1933, Donald Verdell Cox was born in Clawson to Arthur Ludene and Theo Cox. He returned to their awaiting arms on June 15, 2003. He died peacefully at home after a long illness.
He married Diana Jewkes on Oct. 14, 1953 in Orangeville.
Together, the couple had four children, one of whom, Barry, preceded him in death.
Don was employed by Cate Carbon Equipment, where he was the manager until his retirement in 1995.
He loved fishing, camping, gardening and just tinkering.
He especially loved old clocks and had many of them in his home.
More than anything, we will miss Don’s sense of humor and quick wit, his ability to tell a good story, his silly made up songs and his funny sayings.
He will always be remembered by those who survive him, his wife, Diana; daughter, Donette (Dean) Marchello, Spring Glen; son, Dean Cox, Murray; daughter, Dana (Doug) Hussey, South Jordan; brothers, Arthur Cox and Merrill Cox; four grandsons, Michael Mar-chello, Trent Marchello, Austin Hussey and Adam Hussey; two granddaughters, Amber Mar-chello and Rylee Hussey; many nieces, nephews and friends; and his constant canine companion, Jake.
Services will be Thursday, June 19, at noon at the Price 8th LDS Ward Church, 995 East 700 North. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the church. In addition, there will be a viewing Wednesday, June 18, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary, 680 E. 100 South, Price. Burial, Cliffview Cemetery, Price.
Willis Roberts
FILLMORE – Willis “Tiny” Blaine Roberts, 60 of Fillmore, passed away June 11, 2003.
He was born March 27, 1943 in Richfield to Lorenzo Snow and Manita Janice Boren Roberts. He married Marilyn Nielsen Nov. 27, 1965 in Fill-more; later divorced.
He loved his family and enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting and boating. He loved the mountains and his Ford Blue Ox.
A hard worker and talented heavy equipment operator, it was often said he could move a dime without disrupting the dirt.
He loved spending time with his grandkids.
He fought bravely and will always be a hero to his son and daughter.
Survived by son, Willis Dion (Niccole) Roberts, Meadow; daughter, Melanie (Eric) Searle, Fillmore; grandchildren, Aerielle Roberts, Kylhea Searle, Tanner Roberts, Deric Searle, Taylor Roberts, Tanielle Roberts; sisters, Madge Mangus, Price; Utana Cole, California; Louise (Mel) Atwood, Price; Janice (Ted) Davies, Price; Rodney (Connie) Roberts, Price; Larry (JoAnn) Roberts, Price; Renee (Gene) Rhodes, West Jordan; Marjorie (Michael) Baessler, Grantsville; and father, Lorenzo Snow Roberts, Price. Preceded in death by mother; siblings, Dean, Merrel, Elizabeth, Rocky and Benny.
Funeral services were Saturday, June 14. Interment was in Fillmore City Cemetery under the direction of Magleby-Rasmussen Mortuary.
Laura Vetere
PRICE/WEST VALLEY – Our devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Laura Bonello Vetere, age 82, passed away June 14, 2003 at St. Mark’s Hospital in Salt Lake City.
Born Feb. 26, 1921 in Price to Frank (Francesco) Bonello and Mary (Maria) Spadafora. Married Louis (Louie) Vetere, Dec. 6, 1941 at Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church in Price. He died Dec. 28, 2002.
Former member of Notre Dame Catholic Church, where she was the parish choir director for many years.
While residing in Price, Louis and Laura owned and operated Vetere Motors and Melody Motor Mobile Home prior to their retirement in 1978.
In 1979, they moved to Lake Havasu, Ariz., where she was an active member of Our Lady of the Lake Parish, the Catholic Women’s Society and also served as chairman of the Diocesan Development Drive for nine years.
In 1998, they moved to Salt Lake area, where she was a devoted member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
Laura was an excellent cook and she especially enjoyed sharing her cooking with everyone from the family.
Mom, we know you will always be there looking over us and helping us to do the right thing. We love you and thank you for all you have done for us.
Survived by her daughter, Mary Lou (Thomas) Judd; son, Michael Vetere, both of Salt Lake City; granddaughter, Marra Vetere; grandson, John T. Judd; great-grandson, Thomas B. Judd; sisters-in-law, Arlene Bonello, Price; Ida Ryan, Valencia, Calif.; brothers-in-law, Frank (Mary Ellen) Vetere, John (Bonnie) Vetere, Jay (Jackie) Vetere, all of Green River; many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by her parents; brother, Mario Bonello; and sister, Anna B. Saccomano.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Mark’s Hospital.
Funeral Mass, Wednesday, June 18, 10 a.m., Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church. Vigil service Tuesday evening, 7 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home in Price. Family will be at Mitchell’s Tuesday and Wednesday one hour prior to services. Committal service, Price City Cemetery.
