Heat Assistance – The Federally funded Energy Assistance Program started November 3rd, 2003. Applicants must have identification, Social Security Cards for all household members 18 years and older, copies of the most recent utility bills and proof of preceding months’s income for all employed people in the home, proof of medical expenses paid out during the previous month, proof of disability, proof of children under the age of (6) years, and additional documentation as required for assistance. Veterans Day Ceremonies – To honor our veterans, Price Post #3, Price VFW Post 2379, and the Marine Corps League will hold a special service at the Peace Garden on Tues., Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. We encourage Carbon County citizens to attend this commemorative event, to show the most profound debt of gratitude to those who have served and those serving today.
Frontier Project – Local Family Support Group. R.O.A.R. will be meeting every third Thursday in Carbon County. Meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, 10 North 200 East. Rape crisis hotline – Rape or domestic violence victims in the Carbon-Emery County area may contact the local 24-hour crisis line toll-free at 1-866-894-8610.
Carbon County Animal Services – Residents are encouraged to bring recycled newspapers and aluminum to the office at 3360 S. 225 West, Price. Donations will be used for homeless pets.
Donations Needed – Carbon County Animal Services is looking for donations of usable, sellable items for their upcoming Rummage Sale. To make a tax-exempt donation please call 637-0058 and leave a message.
Carbon County Food Bank – Hours are Tuesday through Thursday from noon to 4 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. For information on donating, volunteering or applying, contact the food bank at 637-9232.
Golden Rule Mission – Donate your garage/yard sale leftovers to the Golden Rule Mission in Helper. We will pick up, call 472-2631. Tax deductible.

Parenting for teens – The Family Support and Children’s Justice Center in Price offers a free class dealing with the issues, problems and difficulties facing teen parents. Participants learn about available resources, assistance to return/remain in school, parenting/life skills, cooking and recreation opportunities. For information, contact Terry Willis at 637-0281.
CASA – Special advocates are trained volunteers appointed by judges to speak for children appearing in court. Volunteers are screened. For information, contact Kerrie Larsen at 381-5595.
Carbon County Triad – meets the first Wednesday of the month at 2 p.m. at Price senior center. Members focus on law enforcement and aging programs to assist the elderly.
Lifeline pregnancy assistance, support center – The facility offers free confidential pregnancy testing, verification, counseling and baby supplies. Residents may contact the center by calling the 24-hour telephone line at 636-0700.
Carbon County Animal Shelter – AVID chip pet identification is available at the shelter. Hours are Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Foster parents – The local DCFS office needs foster parents willing to work with teens and provide emergency shelter care. For information, contact Cindy Saccomanno at 636-0219.
JFK Display – The Helper City Library is honoring John Fitzgerald Kennedy with a special display during regular library hours.
Helper library – Hours are Monday through Wednesday from noon until 8 p.m.; Thursday from noon to 6 p.m.; Friday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.; Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., closed between 2:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and closed Sunday. Story hours are Wednesday, 5 p.m. and Thursday at 1 p.m. Pet Pals activities are Tuesdays from 5 to 6 p.m. All children are welcome. Price City Library is sponsoring a food drive for the local food bank from Nov. 1, 2003 to jan. 10, 2003. 1 can = 1 fine. Lost or damaged books and court fines and fees excluded. Family Support & Children’s Justice Center – offers crisis care for families with children from infants to 11 years old. Crisis nursery is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Families may use the nursery for respite, family crisis, court, doctors appointments, medical emergencies, mental health appointments, escaping family violence, attending parenting classes/divorce classes and AA/Narcotic Anonymous meetings. Cancer screening – Southeastern Utah Health District in Price offers checks twice a month for women up to and including age 64. Clinics include breast, pelvic and pap exams at low or no cost. Women 50 to 64 may qualify for free mammogram vouchers. Call the health district at 637-3671 for appointments.
Infant immunization clinics – The health district in Price offers the clinics Monday through Friday from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.; and Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
ABC Learning Center – features movies Fridays at 7 p.m. The facility has books, computers and activities for adults and children. Summer hours are Monday through Friday from noon to 7 p.m. Winter hours are from 2 to 6 p.m. For tutoring appointments, call the center at 888-2061.

Bazaar & Bake Sale – November 15, 2003 at the East Carbon Senior Center, 451 Denver Ave. East Carbon, Ut. It will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will have the following: baked goods, candy, fresh bread, crafts, crocheted items, embroidery items, ceramic, quilts, afghans, white elephant table, craft supplies puzzles, books and much more.
Pheasant Forever Carbon/Emery Chapter Presents – The 2nd Annual Membership banquet Saturday, November 8,2003 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Greenwell Convention Center in Price. There will be dinner, auctions and raffles. Tickets available at Greenwell Inn, Ultra Lube or call 636-1505.

Soroptimist Charity Benifit – To celebrate the our 31rst year there will be a Wine Tasting Party 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 21 at the Carbon Country Club.
Bread ‘N Soup Night – The College of Eastern Utah will once again be hosting the Bread ‘N Soup nights on Mondays from 5:00 p.m to 6:30 p.m through November 24th. Please mark your calendars and plan on joining us in the multi-purpose room in the Jennifer Leavitt Student Center to enjoy yourself, eat well, and support a great cause. Bring family and friends. Cost will be as follows: adults $4.00, students $3.00, and children 8 and under $2.00, all proceeds will got the the Carbon County Food Bank.
Bread ‘N Soup Night is a wonderful opportunity to bring college and community together.
The meal is served in the J.L. Student Center. The menu will be a choice of three kinds of soup, bread and butter, and fruit. Everything is done by volunteers, except the food preparation. The price for the dinner is donated to the carbon County Food Bank. Come out and enjoy dinner and live entertainment Each Monday Night!
Food Handler’s Classes – There will be food handlers’s classes for all persons working in restaurants, bars, nursing homes, school cafeterias, convenience stores or procery deli’s. Clases will be taught in Price on November 12th 2003, and December 10th 2003, at 9 a.m., 4 p.m., and 7 p.m. at Southeastern Utah District Health Department, located at 28 South 100 East. Classes will be taught in castle Dale on November 20th 2003 and December 18th 2003, at 4 p.m, and 7 p.m. at the Health Department, located at 25 West Main St. The classes are two hours in length and the cost is $10.00 to take the test. VFW Field Service Officer to Visit Price – A Field Service Office from the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Department Service Office, in Salt Lake City, will be in your area to assist you in understanding and applying for rightful VA benefits, preparing and application for compensation, pension, hospitalization and other benefits. This is a free service and veterans need not be members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars to qualify for assistance. The VFW Field Service Officer will be working out of the Price Workforce Services Center on November 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Price Workforce Service Center.
