Helper cleanup – City crews will pick up yard debris, shrubs and branches cut into four-foot lengths during the cleanup effort. Debris should be stacked off the roadways and sidewalks in the city. Crews will not backtrack or haul off furniture and appliances.
The schedule includes:
April 1 to April 5, 1st through 5th Avenue, Castle Gate subdivision, Martin, Orchard and Bryner Street, 1st through 11th North.
April 8 to April 12, west Helper.
April 15 to April 19, east Helper.
April 22 to April 26, Locust, Maple, Poplar and Main Street, south U.S. Highway 6.
Mountain View Cemetery – Flowers should be removed from gravesides by April 1 to facilitate Helper’s spring cleanup effort.
Carbon Republican Party convention – is scheduled April 25 at 7 p.m. at the north side of the Love Floral building in Price For information, contact Diana Palmer at 637-7235.
Rape crisis hotline – Rape or domestic violence victims in the Carbon-Emery County area may contact the local 24-hour crisis line toll-free at 1-866-894-8610.
Eastern Utah AHEC dental clinic – is scheduled April 1 to April 12 at the Price National Guard Armory. Initial exams for uninsured residents and individuals qualifying for Medicaid are slated April 1-3. A Medicaid eligibility worker will be available. Parents or guardians must complete patient information for juveniles. For appointment information, contact the AHEC office at 613-5460.
Carbon County Humane Society – The non-profit organization offers monthly spay and neuter clinics at 98 North Carbon Avenue in Price. The group needs old towels and blankets. Members will pick up good used items for the group’s rummage sale. For information, call the humane society at 637-2908.
Foster parents – The local DCFS office needs foster parents willing to work with teens and provide emergency shelter care. For information, contact Cindy Saccomanno at 636-0219.
HEAT – The federally funded home energy assistance program has extended the application deadline until April 30. Identification, Social Security cards and proof of monthly household income as well as copies of utility bills are required. For information or appointments, contact the office at 613-0100.

Family Support & Children’s Justice Center – offers crisis care for families with children from infants to 11 years old. Crisis nursery is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Families may use the nursery for respite, family crisis, court, doctors appointments, medical emergencies, mental health appointments, escaping family violence, attending parenting classes/divorce classes and AA/Narcotic Anonymous meetings. Women’s cancer support group – meets the third Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. at Castleview’s classroom Located in room 104, the cancer library is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Habitat for Humanity – Scheduled activities include:

April 20, golf tournament at Green River State Park; team fees required.
May 4, bowling fundraiser at Country Lanes, per person fees with six members on a team.
Single mothers – Bringing Hope Foundation meets are Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Price Community Center. Enter through south door. Single mothers share experiences and learn about community resources. No fees required. Enroll by contacting the foundation at 637-5542.
Fibromyalgia self-help course – Sponsored by the Utah Arthritis Foundation, the seven-week session is scheduled April 2 to May 14. Classes are Tuesday from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at the Price senior citizens center. Pre-registration and fees required, with scholarships available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Head Start yard sale – Head Start will accept donations for the playground equipment fundraiser until 3 p.m. on April 5. The sale will be conducted April 6 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the old Wal-Mart parking lot in east Price. Helper Lions Easter egg hunt – The holiday activity is planned March 30 starting at 9 a.m. at the Helper City Park. The event will include 12 plus prize eggs.
