Carbon volleyball defeated the American Leadership Academy Eagles 3-0 on Tuesday night at home.
ALA came into the game having not won a game so far, this season and the Dinos made sure that would stay the same Tuesday night.
The Dinos dominated the Eagles from the get go and won the first set 25-12.
Carbon junior Abbie Saccomanno said her team at times had some hiccups but overall were having fun against ALA.
“Everyone was happy and everyone was doing good and happy for each other. It was fun time being on the court,” said Saccomanno
Carbon would continue the fun by winning 25-10 in the second set over the Eagles.
At one point in the second set the Dinos led 13-5 with their offense playing well and the Eagles’ giving up a lot of points.
The Eagles would step up and make it difficult for the Dinos in the beginning of the third set.
After opening the set 4-0, Carbon would let ALA come back into the set and cut the lead to 8-7.
Carbon Head Coach Teresa Mower said it was more of the Dinos giving up points then the Eagles earning them.
“Of the 14 points they scored, 11 of them were our own errors. They only actually earned three of their points legitimately. We need to clean that up and take care of the ball on our side of the court,” said Mower.
The Dinos would go on to win the third set 25-14 to get their second Region 14 win of the season.
“A region win is always a good thing, will take it,” said Mower.
Carbon’s McKenna Leonard led the Dinos in kills with seven while Saccomanno had six and Diana Morley and Gracie Salas each had five.
Saccomanno said after the game that she believes the ALA game was a good preparation game for their upcoming region game against Union on the road.
“It helped us learn that we need to cut down on our mistakes and be more disciplined as a team. I think that will help us against Union,” said Saccomanno.
Carbon will take on Union this Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in Roosevelt in a very important Region 14 battle.
