Mary Martinez(1940 – 2018)

EAST CARBON-Our loving mother (best friend), grandmother and longtime friend, Mary Louise Darr Martinez, 77, passed away August 15, 2018 at her home.
She was born in Brookfield, Missouri on November 28, 1940 to Forrest and Vesta Foster Darr.  On March 8, 1958, she married the love of her life, Nicholas “Nick” Martinez in Price, Utah; he preceded her in death on June 17, 2013.
Mary was a longtime resident of East Carbon where she was blessed with an incredible family and many wonderful friends.  She lived for her children and loved reminiscing with everyone.  Family was everything and she cherished her daily phone calls with her girls. Mary loved sewing, quilting, crafts and making beautiful dolls.  She loved to dance, especially with Nick in the kitchen.  Mary will be dearly missed by her family and a community of friends
Mary is survived by one son and three daughters, Carl Martinez, East Carbon, Nancy (Shawn) Yates, Brighton, CO, Becky (Dave) Huey, Weston, CO, Dianna (Randy) Marquez, Greeley, CO; 8 grandchildren, Nikki Lewis, Davin Martinez, Derek Lewis, Tylor Holstein, Morgan Martinez, Asa Huey, Garrett Pacheco and Joshua Huey; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Linda Johnson and step-father, Sam Faulkner.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Rocky Mountain Hospice, especially Terri Stevenson for her love, support and friendship to Mary and our entire family.  Your acts of kindness will be cherished forever.
Funeral service, Wednesday, August 22, 2018, 11:00 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main Street) in Price.  Family will receive friends at Mitchell’s Tuesday evening from 6:00-7:00 p.m. and Wednesday one hour prior to service.  Interment, East Carbon City Cemetery.
