Castleview Hospital announced today the imminent departure of Chief Executive Officer Mark Holyoak.
Holyoak will join Wilson Medical Center in Wilson, N.C., as its new CEO, a position within Duke LifePoint Healthcare system, the private healthcare concern that also owns Castleview.
“This is a significant move for Mark. He has been in LifePoint hospitals in Utah for two decades, and an integral part of Castleview for more than eight years,” Brad Owens, LifePoint Health Western Group chief operating officer, wrote in a statement released Friday morning. “While we are happy to keep him within the larger LifePoint family, we are certainly sad to see him leave this region. He has contributed significantly to the health of this state and community.”
Holyoak was unavailable for comment. He is on vacation.
Castleview was named a Duke LifePoint Quality Affiliate, a designation earned by only eight other hospitals in the LifePoint Health system, in April.
A search for Holyoak’s replacement is already underway, according to Owens’s statement.
“Mark’s good spirit and dedication to our mission of Making Communities Healthier will be hard to replace, but with the support of Castleview’s strong leadership team and board, we know we are up to the task,” Owens wrote.
Holyoak has been instrumental in improving care at Castleview during his tenure. He has also played a significant role in the community outside of his work at the hospital, serving on numerous committees and boards, including recently chairing the committee that recently filled a judicial vacancy on the 7th District Court bench.
Holyoak’s last day at Castleview will be Sept. 7.
