A number of USUE vocational program students won awards at a recent SkillsUSA competition.
Chloe Wilson placed 10th overall in Job Skill Demonstration A. She demonstrated her ability to use her blueprint reading skills to construct a designed object to specifications. Wilson scored 93 percent overall in fierce competition. Additionally, she was elected President of Utah SkillsUSA’s post-secondary division.
Jordan Wynn placed 4th overall in the welding competition. Jordan will continue training for the US Open Weld Trials to compete against the other top welders in the country at WorldSkills 2019 in Kazan, Russia.
USUE’s team of Tosh Davis, Ben Warnick, and Davis Thompson took 1st place in the Welding Fabrication competition.
USU Eastern has medaled in this competition seven times since the contest’s inauguration in 2008.
The competition was especially challenging this year, as the new Committee Chair overseeing the competition made substantial changes to the competition’s overall structure.
