MILLER CREEK-Jack Chiaretta passed away at home at the age of 93 while surrounded by family.
He was born April 13, 1925 at home in Miller Creek to Henry and Catherine Allotto Chiaretta. Married his top hand and baby, Joyce Williams on January 22, 1946 in Price, Utah and together they had five children.
Jack served in the US Army during World War II and was stationed in the Philippines. Jack worked hard all his life beginning with herding and milking cows at age 8 on the family farm. Farming became his life and he raised grain, sugar beets, beans and hay. During the winter months, drought years, and rough times he shoveled coke, worked construction, drove school bus and was the “Juice” at Club Mecca. Jack enjoyed coffee with the boys, playing cards and teasing the kids. He served many years as the president of Carbon Canal, served on the board of Walker Bank and other public service positions.
He is survived by his children, Denise (Zeke Pontius) Chiaretta of Parachute, CO, Jon (Sharlene) Chiaretta of Ferron, UT, Laurie (Larry) Murdock of Price, UT, and Eric Chiaretta of Price, UT; brother, Lewis Chiaretta; as well as grandchildren, RJ (Jeanna) Davis, Dina (Matt) Wise, Damon (Lizz) Davis, Sara (Eric) McCarty, Jake Murdock, Brandon (Jenifer) Wilde, Russell Chiaretta, Katrina (Anthony) Kelley and Hope Chiaretta as well as 14 great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his wife, Joyce; parents; sister, Ida Scott; brothers, Ramo and Guido Chiaretta; infant daughter, Lisa; great grandson, Aiden M. Murdock.
A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, June 27, 2018, 5:30 pm., Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main Street) in Price where family will receive friends one half hour prior to service.
