The Helper 19U American Legion baseball team defeated the Price American Legion team twice on Wednesday in a doubleheader at Carlson-Colosimo Field.
Helper defeated Price in game one of the doubleheader by a score of 15-2.
Though the final score shows a dominating game by Helper, Price kept things close in the beginning of the game.
The game was tied 2-2 until the fourth inning when an Anthony Jones RBI double gave Helper the lead.
Helper would have a huge fifth inning by producing six runs including a single by JP Powell that drove home two runs.
Powell would add two more RBIs in the sixth inning with a double. Helper would score three more runs in the sixth inning to end the game in six innings.
Besides giving up two early runs to Price in the first inning, Helper’s Nate Olson had an impressive summer debut. Olson threw all six innings with nine strikeouts and gave up only four hits.
Price’s Stetson Motte led his team with two hits and one run in the game one loss.
“I was really proud of their performance tonight. I look at the score and it says 15-2 or whatever but we hung with those guys for four or five innings,” said Price Manager Willie Ellington.
Shortly after the conclusion of game one, Helper defeated Price again in four innings, 8-1.
The game ended in four innings due to lack of light.
A Tyler Sherman ground out would score Motte to give Price the early 1-0 lead in the first inning.
Before it got dark, the bats of Helper were alive in the first two innings beginning with a lead-off triple by Ty Anderson.
Anderson would on a Braxton Bennett sac fly to tie the game at 1-1.
Later in the first Jadon Robertson would give Helper a 3-1 lead with a two-run home run.
In the third inning, with two runners on, Jayden Flemett would hit a triple and then score a run himself to put the Helper at 6-1.
Helper would add two more runs and then have Collin Lewis close out the game with two strikeouts on the mound in the top of the fourth to complete the doubleheader sweep.
“It was alright, its been a couple weeks since high school ball got over with. We got two wins tonight, so we’re okay. We got a couple things to work on and we had a few guys missing tonight,” said Cisneros.
Price Legion will hit the road this weekend with two games in Utah county against Pleasant Grove and Dixie on Saturday.
The Helper Legion team will travel this weekend to Burley, Idaho to participate in the RBI Tournament.
Both teams will play their regular season schedule of games throughout June and the first half of July until the State Tournament begins on July 19.
