Tony Lessar

    PRICE- Antone A. “Tony” Lessar, age 72 passed away Thursday, April 26, 2018 from Cardiac arrest due to his battle with Amyloidosis.
    He was born August 19, 1945 in Price, Utah to Frank and Liberty Kokal Lessar.  
    He lived his entire life in Carbon County and was a graduate of Carbon High School class of 1963.  He served in the Utah National Guard 1457 Engineering Battalion for 20 years, attained the rank of Sgt., and was deployed to Germany during Desert Storm.  
    While attending high school he worked at the Price Bakery and later worked in the local coal mines and Omega Corporation.  
    In his early adult life, he helped several local farmers and was later able to own his own farm and raised several head of cattle.  He was noted for his excellent cooking skills, especially his famous smoked sausage and ethnic cuisine.  He donated many hours cooking turkey dinners for the St. Anthony Catholic Church carnival and making
strudel dough for the Notre Dame Catholic Church Oktoberfest.  He cooked delicious dinners on a monthly basis at the Slovenian Home in Spring Glen.  He was called upon to cook for funeral dinners, family get togethers, parties, etc.  
    He was President of the Slovenian Home and the Slovenian National Benefit Society Lodge #757.  He was the main contributor to the annual Slovenian Day Picnic.  Tony loved music, especially polkas and he loved to dance.  He traveled to several states attending polka dances.  He learned to play the button box accordion by ear and played for various organizations and funerals.  Wherever Tony was there was music.  
    He enjoyed camping and cooking for the Hoffman family hunting trips.
    Although, Tony never married, he always enjoyed the companionship of his “little dogs”.  
    He will be dearly missed by his family and many longtime
friends.
    Tony is survived by his brother, John (Lynnette) Lessar, Price; sister-in-law, Joanne Lessar, Price; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and special cousin, John Ularich.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gene Lessar.
    Funeral Mass, Saturday, May 5, 2018, 10:00 a.m., Notre Dame de LourdesCatholic Church.  Vigil service, Friday evening, 7:00 p.m., Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church.  Family will receive friends Friday and Saturday at the church one hour prior to service.  Interment, Price City Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price where friends are always welcome daily and may share memories online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Notre Dame Catholic Church (185 North Carbon Ave, Price, Utah 84501) or the Slovenian National Home (1125 Haycock Lane, Helper, Utah 84526).
