Kent Stilson 1923-2018

    Kent Stilson left this world for the next April 25, 2018, at his home in Orangeville, Utah. Born to William Lester and Laura Velma Wayman Stilson June 18, 1923, Kent worked on the farm, in the timber, and in the mines as a young man. He studied construction at Weber State and was the first carpenter hired to build the power plant at Castle Gate, and the last let go. He married Ruth Humphrey June 25, 1942. He entered the U.S. Army in 1943 but was later honorably discharged for medical reasons. He is survived by his wife and their children, Royce (Judy), Valene Wakefield (Lond), Lewis (Leigh), Camille Williams (Richard), 26 grandchildren, 114 great-grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. His parents, sister Vay, brother Clan, son Ken and daughter-in-law Kathy are only some of his loved ones who welcomed him home to heaven.
    Kent built hundreds of structures including bridges, libraries, churches, post offices, schools, banks, firehouses, and homes in the Emery-Carbon County area. He served as an Emery County Commissioner in the early 1970s. He was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, served ten years in a bishopric, almost five years at the Manti Temple, and with Ruth served a mission to the South Carolina Columbia Mission 1981-82.
    Funeral services will be held Monday, April 30, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. at the Orangeville Third Ward Chapel, 165 West 800 North, Castle Dale, Utah, with a viewing prior starting at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Orangeville Cemetery entrusted to Fausett Mortuary of Emery County.
