Utah State Eastern and Price native Cole Fossat signed a Letter of Intent Tuesday to continue his college career at Dixie State.
Fossat, who prepped at Carbon High School has been a two-year starter at shortstop for USU Eastern. He also has been a successful pitcher for the Eagles as well.
He signed with Dixie State because of the tradition and what the program offers him.

“I felt it was the right choice. I love their facilities, their coaches and I have lot of good buddies on the team. It is just a great place to go and they have a good program down there,” said Fossat.
Fossat was named the Scenic West Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year as a freshman in 2017. He led the Eagles in RBIs with 31 in 2017 and also had 38 hits and three home runs.
As a sophomore this season, Fossat is batting .252 with 29 hits, 29 runs, 24 RBIs, five doubles and four home runs.  From the mound, he has pitched 28.2 innings and has a win loss record of 2-2 with a 3.45 ERA.

“Cole has been the core of our team the past two years. Not only did he bring great knowledge but a work ethic that is one of the best we have seen,” said USU Eastern Head Coach Scott Madsen.
Fossat said that he was grateful for his time at USU Eastern and the opportunity to grow as a baseball player and get experience necessary for Dixie State.
“As a player, I have matured here and it got me prepared for that level,” said Fossat.

He joins two other current USU Eastern baseball players that have signed with four-year institutions to further their college playing career. Price native Jarod Lessar signed with Brigham Young University in the Fall and Jesse Rowley signed with CSU Bakersfield earlier this week.
Fossat is planning to finish his Bachelor’s Degree in Wildlife Biology while he attending Dixie State the next two years.
