   This past weekend Carbon County hosted its annual Carbon High School Rodeo. If you ventured out to the fairgrounds you would have seen a sea of contestants, horses and horse trailers blanketing the fairgrounds complex.
    In the running is 550 state contestants with over 740 entries vying for positions in barrel racing, poles, calf roping, goat tying, breakaway roping, steer wrestling, saddle bronc, team roping, bareback and rodeos main event the bull riding.
    The past 10 years the rodeo association has included shooting events that include rifle and trap shooting.
    Each contestants goal is to gather points to be able to compete in the Utah High School Rodeo State Finals held in Heber, Utah on June 4-9. The ultimate goal is to qualify in the top four at state to be able to complete at the National High School Rodeo Finals to be held July 15-21 in Rock Springs, Wyoming.
