It is not often two rival schools join hands, but this week two teams will come together to raise funds for students at their schools who are fighting cancer.
The annual rivalry game between Carbon and Emery boys basketball teams will take place on Dec. 6 at Emery High at 7 p.m.
Event organizer Abbi Blackwell from Emery High has enlisted the help of the Sterling Scholars from Emery High and students from Carbon High to work out the details to ensure the cause is successful.
In addition to what should be a heated rival basketball game, there will be shirts for sale, a raffle and an auction.
“We have been trying to get both student bodies involved. We will have students selling tickets throughout the game and a donation collection,” said Blackwell.  “The raffle items will be lined up in the hallway and you can put your tickets in the basket of the item you would like to have a chance to win.”
The winners of the raffle will be announced during half-time of the game.
All proceeds go to students
All of the money raised will go to students at both schools who are fighting cancer.
“We are asking everyone to come out and support your team at the game and also support these students by participating in the auction and raffle,” said Blackwell.
She stated that they have golf passes, golf shirts from Carbon Country Club and other courses, several Naturally Inspired gift baskets, Pro-Rehab gift basket, Debbie’s Uniques gift basket, Emery County Progress gift subscriptions and advertising coupons and many other items.
If you have items you would like to donate for the raffle, please drop them off at either Carbon or Emery High Schools before Wednesday’s game.
